Daniel Joseph Beasley Obituary

LaGrange, Maine - Daniel Joseph Beasley, 75, of LaGrange, Maine, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. Born on June 27, 1950, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Daniel was the second of ten children.

He spent his formative years in Wakefield, Massachusetts, where he was a star track and field athlete at Wakefield High School. Daniel went on to attend Providence College on a track scholarship, graduating with an economics degree in 1972. He also earned a degree in English from the University of Massachusetts, and took teacher education classes while employed at the University of Maine in Orono. Daniel moved to Maine in 1975, where he met the love of his life, Eileen. They were married in Lubec and moved to LaGrange in 1979 after purchasing 67 acres of land. There, Daniel achieved his dream of building his own log cabin and fieldstone home and raising their daughter, Erin Marie. He worked at the University of Maine for 24 years, retiring as an energy management coordinator and assistant supervisor.

Daniel will always be remembered for his fierce determination and spirit. He bravely fought multiple sclerosis for 27 years, never allowing the disease to diminish his full and meaningful life. Daniel's passions included his family, his land, working on his home, observing and being in nature, and following track and field. A devoted husband and father, he attended all of his daughter's sporting events and volunteered as a track and field coach at Penquis Valley High School, where he enjoyed teaching young athletes the skills to help them succeed both on and off the field. Daniel was an intellectual with a great sense of humor, who cared deeply for his family and friends, and who found joy in music, woodworking, gardening and reading. He taught himself the skills needed to build and manage his own home, taking pride in his family's self-reliance. We will look for Daniel's spirit as we walk the woods and fields together.

Daniel was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Alice (O'Malley) Beasley; and his brother, Shaun Beasley. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Eileen (Guide) Beasley; beloved daughter, Erin Marie Beasley and her husband, Benjamin Poulos, and his granddaughter, Emily Grace, of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by his devoted siblings, Glen Beasley, Brian Beasley, Kevin Beasley, Deborah Beasley, Colin Beasley, Eileen Beasley, Kathleen Beasley, and Thomas Beasley. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their supportive care and comfort during Daniel's final month. At Daniel's request, there will be no funeral service. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at birminghamfuneralhome.com.
