James Michael Parent Sr. Obituary

Lagrange, Maine - James Michael Parent Sr., 84, of Lagrange, Maine, passed away on June 2, 2026. Born on February 10, 1941, in Bangor, ME, Jim lived a life defined by hard work, dedication to family, and pride in an honest day's work.

A proud United States Navy veteran, he carried the values of service, determination, and self-reliance throughout his life. Jim spent much of his career in Maine's lumber industry. He worked extensively in the lumber business and was especially proud of his involvement with Old Town Lumber Mills for Northeastern Log Homes. He earned the respect of coworkers and friends through his knowledge, work ethic, and commitment to doing a job right.

Beyond his work and family, Jim found lasting friendships and a sense of purpose through Freemasonry. He was a longtime member of Composite Lodge No. 168 in Lagrange and later joined Piscataquis Lodge. He was also an active member of the Anah Shrine, where he especially enjoyed helping with the Anah Shrine Circus. Those who knew him through the Masonic community remember his dedication, fellowship, and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed. Outside of work, Jim enjoyed life at home in Lagrange, where he took pride in caring for his property and working with his hands. He had a particular fondness for Farmall tractors and owned several of the iconic red machines throughout his life. Those tractors reflected much of what family and friends admired about him - strength, dependability, and a willingness to keep working no matter the task. Jim was the devoted husband of Linda Parent for 51 years. Together they built a family that remained the center of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Parent of Lagrange; his son, Jason Parent and wife, Cindy, of Amherst, NH; his son, Justin Parent and partner, Danielle, of Hermon; his daughter, Linda Applebee and husband, Luke, of Colorado Springs, CO; and his son, Jim Parent Jr. of Danforth. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isaac Parent, Cady Parent, Jade Parent, Zoey Parent, Jessi Parent, Madison Applebee, Olivia Applebee, Peyton Applebee, Harper Applebee, Kierstin O'Brien, and Seth Parent; as well as four great-grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings, Francis Parent and wife, Elsie, of Rogersville, TN; Perley Parent and wife, Sonya, of Old Town; Susan MacDonald of Hermon; Michele Richens of Orrington; Marlene Booker of Portland; James Kelley Sr. of Caribou; Sharon Corbin of Florida; Pamela McPheeters of Tennessee; and Paul Poisson of Caribou. He was predeceased by his siblings, Alfred Parent, Teresa Michaud, Dolores "Dolly" Graves, Patricia Michaud, Robert Kelley, Michael Poisson, and Patrick Poisson.

Jim will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, devotion to his family, and the example he set through a lifetime of hard work and perseverance. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the many lives he touched throughout his years.
