Portsmouth, Virginia - Martha Ann Lary McPherson passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 1, 2025. She was born in Bangor.

When she was 12 her family moved to Dover-Foxcroft to be closer to family. Martha grew up with her siblings and cousins in a beautiful farmhouse where she had wonderful memories of fun escapades. She graduated in 1959, the following year married the love of her life, Barry Lary.

Martha spent years raising her daughters, making their childhood special. She loved to decorate for all the holidays, and took great pride in creating a beautiful home. This extended into creating an amazing outdoor space with beautiful flower gardens. She loved crafting, reading, and traveling. Her fondest memories were road trips with her sisters. Her favorite trips were to Mexico, France (twice!) and her trips out west with her sister, Nancy. She loved University of Maine Hockey, football, and the Red Sox! Most of all, she loved spending time with her girls, grandchildren, and family.

Martha was predeceased by her loving parents, James F. McPherson, and Ramona Beatrice (O'Neal) McPherson; and her ex-husband, Barry Lary. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa King and husband, Ben, their children, Shawn and wife, Candy, and their daughter, Jasmine, Peter and wife, Kara, and children, Kayla, Benjamin, Camden, and Brayden, and Andrew and wife, Lara, and son, Eli; and daughter, Mara and husband, Michael, and their sons, James and partner, Drew Holcombe, and Theodore; her siblings: sister, Pamela Kelley, brother, James McPherson and partner, Donna Copeland, and sister, Nancy Lovell and husband, Philip; and several beloved nieces and nephews. She leaves behind special cousins, David and Rose Fox, who reside in France; and close friends, the "birthday girls," Patti, Janet, Barbara, Helen, Kathy, Rita, Linda, Phyllis, and Yvonne.

A memorial service will be held on June 13 at Thayer Park at 1 p.m. All are welcome.
