Medford, Maine - William "Mad Dog" D. Russell, 64, passed away peacefully June 23, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born March 7, 1962, in Milo, the son of Laurel "Doug" Russell and Shirley May (Genthner) Russell.

Willie was an avid outdoorsman and spent his life in the woods of Maine. He was a registered Maine Guide and spent his time guiding moose hunts, fishing, and bear hunts. He was especially passionate about bear hunting and his bear dogs meant the world to him.

Willie is survived by his children, Jeremy Russell and his wife, Morgan, Cody Dunham and his girlfriend, Ryanne Young, and Andrew Murray and his wife, Marissa; brothers, Thomas Russell and his wife, Betty Jean, and Timothy Russell; sister, Belinda Brewer and husband, Darrell; grandchildren, Laurel and Elliott Russell; stepmother, Ethel Ann Russell; mother of his children, Beatrice Russell; and special friends, Carol and Andy Dow, and Tony Nightingale. He was predeceased by his parents.
